Introducing César Robles “Choza”!

The Expression of the Body in Perfect Balance

By: César Robles "Choza"

My name is César Robles “Choza”, I’m 29 years old and I’m a professional slackliner.

I began with sports when I was a child in gymnastics. I practiced for approximately 12 years and I even had the opportunity to represent my country internationally. Unfortunately, I had an injured a spinal disc and and I had to quit the gymnastics. This was a huge change for me, it’s hard to stop doing something you really love and and stop doing what you've been doing every day of your life.

I started looking for other sports after a while and I found aggressive inline skating. I practiced for a year, and made a lot of good memories. Even better than memories, it began to gain confidence and see that I was able to still practice sports. I was able to overcome my injury but I didn’t find that passion to take it to another level in my life and decided to stop.

Some years later, I was hanging around with my family on a beach and I saw a slackline with my brother Renzo and decided to try it. We fell in love immediately. later that day we started searching for videos on the internet and found people doing a lot of stuff on it. What caught our attention most were the people doing flips. At that moment we realized, “that can be our sport!,” we could apply all our gymnastics knowledge on the slackline. A few days after that we bought our first slackline and have being practicing at least 3 hours every day since then.

In 2015, I had the luck to be invited to the World Cup in Brazil, even though I was an amateur back then, but I was able to learn a lot of things. I discovered the international slackline community and so I decided to train harder to start looking for a team.

In 2016, hard work paid off. I applied to the Slackline Industries team, which I found the best in the world, and after a few months they accepted me. That really motivated me to train more and put me even bigger goals.

Then in 2017 I was invited to compete at international competitions and I did well. Additionally, some other brands started taking interest on me. I started working with Frescomar and they gave me crash pads to make my training easier. That year I placed 9that Full Combo World Cup Japan and ranked 14th in the ISI World ranking.

2018 started even better. I took 3rdplace at the GoPro Mountain Games Slackline Invitational. Then two more brands, Buff and Ankubars, started supporting me as an athlete. Now I hope I can to compete at another international event and close in on a good spot of this year's World Ranking!

Slacklining has given me pretty much everything the few last years, and I am lucky to have the support of my family (my biggest sponsor). I'm also luck to train with my brother and my girlfriend, we’re always supporting each other and trying to push each other to be the best.

When I train, my setup is a Boss Line with 2 Alpha Ratchets. I put the line around 2 meters high and 27-28 meters long.
